A staff member said the county will need to maintain the added mileage but that the recurring state aid can be used for maintenance and future projects. Commissioners discussed timing for plowing and the logistics of the turnback, noting the state aid increase will be ongoing while the county will also receive a one-time payment to support initial work.
"Anticipate about a $140,000 a year increase in our state aid," a staff member said while outlining the fiscal implications. The board moved, seconded and approved the measure to establish the county state-aid highways and proceed with associated steps.
