Staff reports 65% of Durango's 2017 comprehensive-plan strategies completed or underway

Jamie Lobko, the city's community development director, updated council on implementation of the 2017 comprehensive plan, saying chapter 13 contained 31 implementation strategies and that "65% of those strategies have either been completed or are actively underway." Lobko said completed items include parks-and-rec master planning, transportation planning, and the city's online permitting system; several character-district plans remain unstarted.
Lobko previewed upcoming public engagement for the plan update, with the consultant Logan Simpson scheduled to brief council on Sept. 1 and community engagement beginning Sept. 1'3. The director said staff will evaluate whether character-district plans remain the best tool for focused areas and will align the comp plan update with housing, transportation and sustainability initiatives.
