"...last night, we passed a resolution, saying that we're gonna support, the pro rodeo headquarters being moved to Cheyenne in the Hall Of Fame, and that's about a $60,000,000 deal," Esquivel said. He described the site as a planned Hitching Post District at the southwest corner of I‑25 and I‑80 intended to showcase western cultural businesses and tourism amenities.
Esquivel said the council expects anchor uses to include the PRCA office and museum and that the city is discussing complementary retail and manufacturing presences that match the district's western theme. He said the project will be visible from both interstates and that the city expects the development to remain south of the Union Pacific rail line.
Board members listened for context but did not take a formal position. The item was presented as a council update rather than an action item before the Historic Preservation Board; Esquivel framed the planned district as tourism and hospitality-focused rather than industrial or data-center development.
