County tables lease of parcel for Verizon tower pending clarification on carrier subleases and compensation

The towers firm proposed $1,550 monthly rent, a $3,000 initial payment and 1.5% annual rent increases; Barela said the 45-year potential lease term and coverage gap on the I-40 corridor motivated the proposal.
Commissioners asked whether the county would share revenue if additional carriers or subtenants attach equipment to the tower; County Attorney Michael Garcia advised that any compensation for subleases must be explicitly written into the contract. Commissioner Kevin McCall asked about siting within the parcel to preserve future County uses. The Commission voted to table the item pending clarification on carrier sublease compensation and exact tower placement.
