The Torrance County Commission approved Resolution 2025-43 to adopt a countywide Critical Incident Reporting Policy intended to standardize how the county records, responds to and communicates about significant events.
County Manager Jordan Barela said the policy sets a broad definition of "critical incident," requires supervisors to notify the Manager's Office, and establishes after-action reporting and debrief requirements so departments can identify lessons learned. "It ensures that all critical incidents are reported, recorded, and responded to promptly," Barela said, adding that the policy aims to reduce public confusion and improve transparency when disruptive incidents occur. The resolution passed unanimously.
