Torrance County explores regional dispatch options and will solicit a new domestic‑violence service contractor

County Manager J. Jordan Barela reported that the county is exploring multiple models for regionalizing 911/dispatch services, including hosting, partial service transfer and full takeover options. He said Santa Fe County is conducting a feasibility study with Federal Engineering that will include Torrance County and is expected to issue a final report by the end of January 2026. Bernalillo County staff also discussed potential hosting or partial‑service models and will return a cost proposal.
Barela also said the county plans to solicit a contractor to provide domestic-violence services after the current MOU with BSS ends Oct. 31. He said the solicitation would be released within a week and could fund services up to $30,000 for the remainder of the year; the goal is to ensure a service coordinator and housing options are available for victims beginning Nov. 1. The commission did not take immediate action but staff will return with procurement materials.
