Torrance County amends Presbyterian Medical Services contract to fund Mountainair clinic through 2027

County Manager J. Jordan Barela told commissioners that the Department of Health awarded a grant to fund primary-care services at the Mountainair Health Clinic and that the amendment to the county's existing contract with Presbyterian Medical Services (PMS) aligns the PMS agreement with the new two-year grant. Barela said the amendment increases total compensation by $202,248 and extends the services period to June 30, 2027 so PMS can continue operating the clinic with the grant funds.
County Attorney Michael I. Garcia said he had reviewed the original contract and had discussed the amendment with staff; Garcia reported he had no legal concerns with the amendment as presented. The commission approved Amendment No. 1 to enable PMS to bill grant funds through the county and continue primary-care services in Mountainair.
