Bay Village budgets Wi‑Fi refresh, encumbers funds for fire station fiber and other IT projects

Jen Demoloy presented the 2026 IT budget and existing encumbrances. She said the 2026 budget is $198,500 with just over $90,000 carried over from 2025 projects. Several encumbered-but-unpaid items were listed: South Shore Cable Construction for the fire station fiber ("21,000, $530"), a Wi‑Fi project encumbered $12,239, a mechanic's laptop $2,622, finance cabling $4,407, pool emergency phones $2,350, and mini PCs $5,691.
Jen said the city intends to begin a Wi‑Fi access-point replacement in early May (starting at the pool) because many access points are aging; "About 70 of them are 11 years or older," she said. The committee also discussed a phone-system software update (TTX) required for compatibility with the renovated fire station.
Committee members agreed the finance department will continue to lead detailed budget tracking while the committee focuses on project-level oversight and timing for capital deployments.
