Finance Committee approves minutes and claims; refers holiday bonus decision to full board

At its Dec. 15 meeting, the DeWitt County Finance Committee approved last month’s minutes and claims and voted to send the question of employee Christmas bonuses to the full county board for a final decision.
DeWitt County’s Finance Committee met Dec. 15, 2025, at 5:01 p.m. in the County Building and approved the previous month’s minutes and the claims docket. Terry Ferguson moved to approve the minutes, Jamie Prestegaard seconded, and the motion carried on a voice vote. Claro Carter moved to approve claims with Ferguson seconding; that motion also passed by voice vote.
Committee members discussed options for employee holiday recognition. County Administrator Dee Rentmeister told the committee that any cash bonuses would need to be processed through payroll; members also discussed noncash alternatives such as providing a ham or turkey to each employee. Terry Ferguson moved and Jamie Prestegaard seconded a referral of the bonus matter to the full county board for a final decision; the referral passed by voice vote. The committee adjourned at 5:23 p.m.
