Peekskill staff report progress on DRI projects, resiliency grant and parking study

At the Feb. 10 meeting the city manager updated the Common Council on a range of capital and planning efforts, including punch-list work at Fleischmann Pier, forthcoming Monument Park construction-bid plans and a resiliency grant to study stormwater and riverfront hardening.
City staff said they are "awaiting delivery and installation of punch list items" at Fleischmann Pier and that DRI staff will present Monument Park construction-bid plans to the committee of the whole on Feb. 18. Staff also described a resiliency grant (noted in the materials) to assess interventions in Peekskill Hollow Creek Basin and MacGregor Brook Basin and to study riverfront hardening to reduce flood risk. "We are going to be looking at ways of hardening infrastructure to prevent flooding like we saw over the last few years," the city manager said.
The manager also reported work on a comprehensive traffic-safety action plan, an economic analysis and consultant work for a potential garage relocation to Corporate Drive, and continued coordination with the county on stormwater projects using CDBG funding. Staff said they will return with a garage-reuse study and construction documents for civic-hub and pedestrian/cyclist connectivity projects associated with the DRI.
No binding approvals were taken on these projects at the Feb. 10 meeting; staff described next steps and anticipated presentations to committees and the full council in coming weeks.
