Peekskill council authorizes Omnia Partners procurement certificate to speed parking purchases

The Common Council unanimously approved Resolution J13 on Feb. 10, authorizing the city manager to enter into an agreement with Omnia Partners to execute a principal procurement agency certificate.
City staff, speaking at the meeting, described interest in kiosk systems for the city's parking program and said membership in Omnia would be no-cost and allow department heads to compare cooperative prices across municipalities. "It's a no cost agreement, but I would have to sign it as city manager and it would allow our department heads to go on if they're ordering some item that they use a lot anywhere in the city," the city manager said, explaining that staff could use cooperative pricing when it is the most favorable option.
Council members confirmed the item was included in the resolution package and then voted to accept the agreement authorization. Councilwoman Talbot moved Resolution J13; the motion carried unanimously. The authorization does not obligate the city to use Omnia for every purchase but enables staff to use cooperative contracts where appropriate and to note the procurement method in subsequent resolutions.
The council previously discussed kiosk pilots and parking-system options in committee; the Omnia authorization is intended to simplify procurement for equipment such as parking kiosks that multiple vendors offer through cooperative contracts.
