District advances boiler and roof projects; some maintenance work delayed

Staff described a melted switch gear incident at Intermediate North that created smoke and minor boiler-room damage but no injuries; the switch gear replacement was already scheduled in capital planning and will be expedited. Staff also recommended awarding a contract to begin the design phase for an Intermediate North boiler replacement, and reported that Beechwood roof bids came in under threshold, allowing the board to add several roof sections with available funds. A planned staff removal of an overhang on Hooper Avenue was postponed because assigned staff were unavailable; the structure was marked as safe pending contractor removal.
