The Preble County Board of Zoning Appeals voted unanimously on May 26 to deny a Temporary Use Permit renewal for a commercial shipping container placed in the front drive at 7030 Greenbush Road.
Applicant Gwendy R. Parsons said her son—recently moved from active duty to reserves—keeps his belongings in the container while searching for housing. Zoning Director Brad Kramer told the board that the office received a neighbor complaint and he personally photographed what he described as trash, piled materials and multiple vehicles on the front lawn. “I will admit, that the property’s not very well kept at all,” Kramer said. Trustee and board members expressed concern about aesthetics and the impact on neighbors.
Board member Mike Henning moved to deny the permit and require removal of the shipping container within 120 days; Curtis Caplinger seconded and the denial carried 3–0. Brad Kramer instructed Parsons to stay in contact with the zoning office if a buyer or removal timeline shifts.
