The Preble County Board of Zoning Appeals approved a variance on May 26 allowing Krista and Dallas Young to build a 30-by-48-foot barn at 3300 Camden West Elkton Road with reduced setbacks (51' rear and 27' side) where the code requires 60' rear and 50' side setbacks.
Krista Young explained the parcel’s septic layout, existing lean-to and driveway constraints made the requested location the practical option; she also described plans to connect a new driveway to an existing approach. “So, we’re wanting to build a barn… because of where everything is kind of located, this is the best place on the property,” Young said. The board approved the variance under Section 1404.01(D) (1–6) by unanimous vote.
Board members complimented site improvements and accepted staff’s assessment that the proposed siting was reasonable given constraints.
