Board approves variance for larger detached garage at Rolling Hills Addition

The Preble County Board of Zoning Appeals approved a variance on May 26 allowing John C. Grassman to build a 30-by-40-foot, 18'8" detached structure on a 0.98-acre lot in Jefferson Township.
Grassman told the board the garage is for personal vehicle storage and an automotive lift; he described the planned siting and said the structure will be 20 feet from the house on one side. “I’m just wantin’ to build a garage for our house,” Grassman said. The board moved to approve Case 5760 under Section 1404.01(D), items 1 through 7, and the motion passed unanimously.
Board members asked about use and access; staff did not note objections from neighbors. The variance permits exceedances of both the square-footage and height limits in the Restricted Rural Residential zone.
