Sylvania Prevention Alliance marks 40 years, asks council for support

Brian McCann, speaking for the Sylvania Prevention Alliance, reviewed the coalition's 40‑year history and current programs and asked the city for continued support.
"Since 1985, Sylvania Prevention Alliance has grown from a grassroots organization to a full service state credentialed youth prevention coalition," McCann said, and announced a Relay Challenge on May 9 and a 40th‑anniversary gala on April 18. He said SPA delivers more than 22,000 hours of service annually and reaches an estimated 118,000 individuals through programming.
Council members praised SPA's history and role in the community and encouraged residents to attend and to consider sponsorships. Mayor Frey said the presentation provided helpful historical context and complimented SPA on remaining relevant to youth issues. The council took no formal vote on funding during the meeting; McCann invited council and community members to participate and review sponsorship materials distributed at the meeting.
