Service Director Matt Hiscock described the proposed purchase of an Altec Model DX53E fifty-three-foot hydraulic digger derrick to replace a 2014 unit used by the Electric Distribution Division. He said the vehicle will perform pole-setting, auger drilling, transformer lifts and other utility-construction functions and that funding is already in the 2026 Capital Budget.
The quoted purchase price is approximately $553,000 and manufacturing lead times mean delivery would not occur until roughly 2028. Council Member Chris Maxwell agreed to move the ordinance to second reading and the Clerk assigned Ordinance No. 26-074.
