Wadsworth city councilors reviewed a draft resolution on June 16, 2026 that would allow the city to sell unneeded or obsolete personal property — including motor vehicles, road machinery, equipment and tools — by internet auction during calendar year 2026. The draft, sponsored by a Council Member, cites Ohio Revised Code section 721.15(D) and names auction platforms such as eBay, GovDeals and Public Surplus; it authorizes a city representative to set minimum prices and other terms and requires two public notices plus continuous posting on the council and auditor offices and the city website.
Attached Exhibit A lists surplus items city staff identified across departments. Examples include a Dura Patcher and concrete power screed from Streets; a 2001 Ventrac tractor (1,833.5 hours) and multiple push mowers from Parks; and water/wastewater equipment such as a 300 kW diesel generator, a 4" Gorman-Rupp pump and approximately 10,000 discontinued water meter interface units. The draft includes an emergency clause to take effect immediately if it receives a two-thirds vote; otherwise it would take effect at the earliest time permitted by law. The resolution asks the council to later adopt a separate resolution authorizing sale of specific items and to designate a contract representative.
