During the April 7 meeting, Library Director Lori Romero updated trustees on outreach and event-planning activity for 2026.
Romero said staff submitted a funding request to the Tourism & Recreation Board to bring Scales & Tails to the end-of-summer reading program on August 8, 2026. The Ely Elks Lodge will provide space for that program and will act as a sponsor for the Annual Poetry Contest. Romero reported that Matt and Sandra Hibbs and "an autonomous person" donated funds to cover second-place prizes. Staff also have applied to host the Freedom Truck, described in the transcript as a mobile museum for the 250th anniversary, during the Labor Day weekend in Ely. A new list of events and grant activity was distributed to trustees.
