The mayor said he would "be inclined to allow the removal of this tree if another suitable tree is planted on the property in a suitable location." A motion to approve the removal and replacement, with placement to be determined by the village arborist, was made, seconded and carried by voice vote.
The board asked the homeowner to coordinate with the arborist on placement and to maintain nearby plantings so pedestrians and drivers have clear sightlines; the board noted that the village retains authority to require future removal if plantings overgrow public right-of-way.
