Planning staff recommended the council adopt a local law to formally establish the Peekskill Arts Council after a public hearing on Jan. 27 produced support and no requests for changes. "After hearing several comments in support of the action and no comments against it or necessitating changes, we would recommend that the council adopt the local law as written at next week's common council meeting," said Peter, who described draft guidelines, a public landing page on the city website and an inventory accessible at peakskillart.com.
Peter said the board is publishing draft guidelines for public review and intends to post final guidelines once the law is adopted; staff are also working on conservation, mural projects, and attribution plaques for public-artworks. Council members praised the work and signaled support to move the item to a Feb. 10 resolution vote.
