Board hears school updates: "no tech Tuesdays," book vending machine ribbon-cutting and student events

Paula Wheeler of the Marseilles Education Association updated the board on grade-level activities, saying second grade is enjoying "no tech Tuesdays," first graders made ornaments for the tree at local business Boomin' Vinyl, and fourth graders attended an "Ugly Sweater Red Carpet." "2nd grade is enjoying 'no tech Tuesdays,' where they focus without screens with partners and problem-solving skills," Wheeler told trustees.
Assistant Principal Lindsey Johnson outlined upcoming events: the winter program scheduled for Dec. 19, a PTA ribbon-cutting for a new book vending machine, a pizza fundraiser to benefit a Washington, D.C. trip, and that third grade was leading the Christmas tree competition. Superintendent Brenda Donahue also invited the board to a PAWS student basketball event at Wallace Grade School on Jan. 10, and noted the district received City water test results after five samples were collected.
