Mentone seeks donations for Mentzer Park Phase 2; council establishes home-rule fund

The Mentone Town Council said the Mentzer Park Phase 2 crowdfunding campaign had raised $12,660 as of the May 6 meeting and publicly thanked local businesses that contributed, including Egg Town Coffee, Chamber of Commerce, BBQ on Broadway, Bulldog Saloon and Hoosier Vintage. Visitor Amy Roe attended to advise the council on outreach tactics such as calling local businesses and sending personal solicitation letters.
To receive donations for the project, the council read and moved Ordinance 26-491 to authorize home-rule fund 2403 for Mentzer Park Phase 2 donations and adopted Resolution 2026-07 authorizing a May donation-in-lieu-of-pavilion-rental-fee initiative. Both measures were carried during the council actions portion of the meeting.
