Committee approves drafting legislation to trade in aging Autopulse CPR devices

The Fire Department will replace two 2016 Autopulse CPR devices; a vendor offered $4,000 each as trade-in and the Committee authorized legislation allowing the trade-in to proceed.
Chief Bob Lindner told the Committee the department’s two Autopulse mechanical CPR devices (purchased in 2016) had reached their 10-year life expectancy and that the Board of Controls had approved replacement purchases. A vendor offered $4,000 for each existing device as a trade-in, for a total of $8,000 to be applied to the replacement order.
"The vendor chosen to replace the devices was willing to offer $4,000 each for the current devices as a trade-in," Lindner said. Council Member Jeanne Hines moved to have legislation drawn to accept the trade-in and Council Member Angela May seconded; the motion carried unanimously. Administration explained the accounting treatment required the full purchase amount to be recorded and the trade-in shown as revenue per Finance guidance.
