Committee backs drafting legislation to sell aging Rescue 6 to Medina County EMA for $35,000

Fire Chief Bob Lindner told the Committee Rescue 6 (the department’s 1999/2000 heavy-rescue vehicle) had reached the end of its service life and was infrequently used in its original role. Medina County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) expressed interest in purchasing the apparatus to support the county All Hazards Team, and the EMA Executive Board approved a purchase price of $35,000.
"EMA had already signed off on the purchase of the truck for $35,000," Lindner said. Committee members authorized drafting legislation to transfer the vehicle to Medina County EMA; Council Member Jeanne Hines moved to have an ordinance written and Council Member Angela May seconded. The motion carried unanimously. Administration said the law director would prepare the ordinance for Council consideration and that the sale would follow the standard ordinance process.
