CityLink nears buildout: roughly 2,100 homes connected and streaming uptake increasing

CityLink staff told the committee the fiber build continues to advance, with "just under 2,100 homes now installed with fiber internet and 1,072 customers had switched to streaming TV," Assistant Director Mike Testa said. Roughly 500 drop connections were complete, and splicing and lateral work are planned across several named neighborhoods and corridors.
Testa said the installation bottleneck is field capacity: the city currently has four installers, a similar staffing level to the department's early cable days, and staff will present options to accelerate installs as part of upcoming budget work. He also said the intention is for fiber to replace older coax services and for the project to reach completion by the project's summer 2027 deadline, with current expectations of early 2027 for substantial completion.
