The Solano County Board of Education elected Trustee Amy Sharp as board president during its Dec. 17 organizational meeting. The nomination was made from the board and approved by roll-call vote; Sharp thanked trustees for their support and said the past year had been a valuable learning experience.
"You have let me shadow you this last year, and it has been quite a ride," Sharp said after the vote, thanking trustees who supported her. The board later nominated and approved Elise Cheek as vice president in a separate roll-call motion.
The elections came at the start of a broadly routine organizational agenda that included approval of the consent calendar, adoption of next year’s meeting dates and other administrative items. Trustees congratulated the newly elected officers before moving on to student recognitions and program presentations later in the meeting.
The vote to appoint Sharp as president carried with an affirmative roll call from the trustees present; the vote to appoint Cheek for vice president likewise passed by roll call. Neither motion generated substantive opposition beyond one recorded 'no' on the president vote noted during the roll call.
