Harvey County commissioners on Aug. 19 approved a contract with Reno County Youth Services for detention services. Becky Reimer moved to approve the contract; Commissioner Terry Scott seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The contract text distributed with the agenda identifies Reno County Youth Services in Hutchinson as the detention provider and specifies billing terms and responsibilities. For budgeting purposes the contract states the daily per-diem cost will increase to $165 per day on Jan. 1, 2026; it also notes standard provisions for medical, mental-health, and dental services for detained youth and reimbursement procedures when outside services are required. Contact information in the contract lists Reno County Youth Services' director contact as Joe Hammeke, and the Designating County contact as the Harvey County Sheriff’s Office.
Commissioners did not amend the contract during the meeting; the board approved the contract as presented and directed staff to execute the agreement per the motion.
