Harvey County signs authority to accept KDOT replacement of bridge E-30.7; county to provide $3,000 incidental match

Road & Bridge Superintendent Jim Meier told the commission that KDOT selected the county's replacement of bridge E-30.7 under the Off-System Bridge Program. Meier reported the winning bid was $655,111 and that the overall final cost is $655,351 (difference attributable to a fixed-price water item). He said the location is SE 60th, 0.3 mile west of S. Osage and that the project is federally funded at 100%, with Harvey County providing $3,000 for incidental match items.
Commissioner Becky Reimer made a motion to authorize the signature on the Authority to Award Contract form and to approve providing the $3,000 of county funds; Commissioner Terry Scott seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The agenda materials note the KDOT bid letting named King Construction as the low bidder at $655,111.
The Road & Bridge weekly report attached to the packet described the existing timber bridge (built 1960), referenced the project scope (a three-span reinforced concrete haunch slab bridge) and noted the county had closed the bridge after structural damage in April 2024. The commission approved committing the $3,000 incidental amount so the county can meet the KDOT form requirements and proceed with contract acceptance.
