DSS: Elevate grant terminated; department to seek budget amendment to reduce revenue and expenses

Suzanne Moose of the Department of Social Services informed commissioners that Cabarrus Health Alliance notified the county that a previously anticipated grant—the 'Elevate Grant'—was terminated by the federal government and therefore will not be available for FY27. The grant had been included in the department’s FY27 budget and staff requested a budget amendment at the regular meeting to reduce both revenue and corresponding expense lines for programs supported by that funding.
"They were notified on June 27 that the grant would be terminated, and they notified us on June 30 that they would not be awarding social services the grant funds," Moose said. Staff requested the board place the required budget amendment on the regular meeting agenda for formal action to realign revenues and expenses.
