Parks staff consolidate policies and recommend Chapter 50 updates covering vaping, tents and e-devices

Hagler said the revised package incorporates long-standing administrative practices and adds operational updates such as an age-verification requirement for certain facilities (clarifying that individuals must be 18 or older to enter the indicated pool without a parent or guardian), bans confetti and colored-powder activities to reduce cleanup, and establishes approval criteria for pop-up tents larger than 12 by 12 feet. He also said the revisions add vaping devices to the definition of tobacco products and clarify terminology for bicycles, scooters and electric-powered transportation devices to improve enforcement.
The Active Living and Parks Commission and the Active Living Center Advisory Board both unanimously recommended approval. Staff said the ordinance changes and consolidated policy will be placed on the consent agenda for the regular meeting pending a minor formatting correction to the clean copy.
