The WCNWB voted to award an aquatic weed-treatment contract to Coastal Ag for $36,708 after tax following a presentation of competing bids at its May 4 meeting. Coordinator Adam Fletcher summarized two proposals: Woodland Resources proposed treating 20 acres at $49,939 after tax (with a possible mobility-cost adjustment to be scheduled Sept. 14, 2026), while Coastal Ag (owner Chase Metzger) offered four onsite monitoring periods and two separate treatments for the lower price.
Board member K.W. moved to award the contract to Coastal Ag; Lore Twiet seconded the motion and the board voted unanimously in favor. The minutes record the award as the formal decision; no amendment or contingency was recorded during the meeting. Commissioner Lee Tischer, phoning in, added a public comment expressing satisfaction with the contractor, saying, "great news." The minutes do not provide a detailed schedule for treatments beyond what the bidders proposed.
The decision replaces last year’s Woodland Resources arrangement in favor of the lower-cost Coastal Ag bid and includes the monitoring plan described by the bidder. The board’s next regular meeting is scheduled for June 1, 2026.
