County Clerk Eda Schunk Thompson told the board her lead election deputy resigned and asked permission to replace the budgeted full-time position and to hire one to three part-time temporary experienced staff to assist with elections; she said her office's budget can cover the temporary hires. The board approved both requests by unanimous votes: a motion by Commissioner Mike Arzy to replace the full-time deputy and a motion by Commissioner Holly Jennings to allow hiring temporary help.
Thompson said the clerk’s office successfully posted candidate filings nightly after 5 p.m. with help from IT staff. The board scheduled the first budget meeting for FY26–27 at 10 a.m. the same day to continue budget review and planning for staffing costs.
