IIIA trust reports $37.6 million budget, telehealth and mental-health expansions credited for savings

The presenter said new programs — including digital physical therapy, telehealth and a mental-health program started in 2019 —, together with vendor changes for prescription rebates, produced more than $2.2 million in savings. She said about 89% of every dollar went to claims, 6% to third-party administration (TPA) and 2% to staff.
The presenter cited telehealth as a major access and cost-saving tool, noting more than 4,000 telehealth calls routed members away from costlier urgent care or emergency room visits; the trust also reported nearly $2 million in prescription rebate recoveries and emphasized stop-loss protections for catastrophic claims.
