"Ratifying this MOU sends a message to every student we serve," Zaragoza said, arguing that the partnership helps reach students who lack other supports and that the organization's mentors bring lived experience relevant to the student population. The board heard the request during public comment; the MOU itself was later addressed as a consent or regular-agenda item and staff noted the MOU was submitted for ratification.
