Board approves deferred maintenance transfer, sheriff contract extension and multiple consent and regular items
Summary
The El Monte Union board approved a $1.5 million transfer to deferred maintenance (Fund 14), a one-year extension of the supplemental-law-enforcement agreement with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (7/1/2026'6/30/2027) and multiple contract and resolution items; the consent agenda (with two items pulled for separate votes) passed.
During its May 6 meeting the El Monte Union Board of Trustees passed several votes on the consent and regular agendas.
Consent items were approved with exceptions (the consent agenda carried 5-0). Item E3, "approval of cash transfer from general fund, unrestricted to deferred maintenance fund," moved by Trustee Nguyen and seconded by Trustee Dr. Guzman, transferred $1,500,000 into Fund 14 for aggregated deferred-maintenance projects and passed 5-0. Item E9 (an amendment to the school supplemental-law-enforcement agreement with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department) was pulled for separate consideration, corrected to a one-year extension from 07/01/2026 through 06/30/2027, and approved 4-1 after trustees clarified the term and hourly-rate increases. The board also approved multiple facilities, procurement and partnership items (noted approvals included notices of completion for modernization projects, a change order with Pro West Constructors, an agreement for independent psychoeducational evaluations, and ratification of a Garfield Health Center MOU for student externships).
