CUHS Principal Jason Armstrong presented five tie‑breaking approaches for handling GPA ties among top graduates and scholarship recipients, including measures of academic rigor, performance in advanced coursework, senior‑year performance, extracurricular leadership and an option to share or expand awards when academic measures fail to break ties.
Armstrong walked trustees through sample scenarios and asked the board to provide guidance on which criteria it preferred; the board discussed trade‑offs between rewarding rigor and recognizing broad student contributions but did not adopt a single method at the meeting.
