Board hears CTE advisory push for more lab time, facilities and on-campus childcare

CTE Department Chair Corine Maday outlined current pathway enrollments and new course proposals, and described a future goal to explore an on‑campus childcare center to support teen parents and district employees. “Future CTE Goal is to have a childcare facility,” Maday said, noting benefits to teen parents and staff and asking the board to consider the concept in future budget and facility planning.
Emily Brown, the CTE advisor, presented advisory committee findings that recommended longer class periods for hands‑on instruction, dedicated instructional spaces and updated equipment. Board members were asked to prioritize facilities, equipment and professional development needs during upcoming budgeting and bidding for shop and culinary work.
