The City of Lilburn City Council opened a public hearing July 13 and voted 3-0 to transmit a proposed amendment to the city's Comprehensive Plan to the Georgia Department of Community Affairs for the state review process. Mayor Johnny Crist said the amendment was "developed over several years through quarterly meetings and public charrettes" and that "transmittal does not finalize the plan."
Councilmembers did not receive public comment during the hearing; after closing the public portion the council approved the transmittal motion. The action begins the state review stage required under the Department of Community Affairs process and does not itself adopt the plan changes. Next steps will be the agency review and any state-required revisions or public notice as set by that process.
