Commissioners approve multiple right-of-way occupancy permits, including East River Electric 115 kV line

The Kingsbury County Board of County Commissioners on June 18 approved a series of Applications for Occupancy on county highways from utility providers, including Valley Fibercom, Sioux Valley Energy, Kingsbury Electric and East River Electric Cooperative. Motions to grant each permit carried unanimously.
Representatives from East River Electric and Kingsbury Electric told the Board that East River hires third-party surveyors to determine right-of-way lines and pole locations, and noted those statutory right-of-way lines "do not necessarily correspond with the measured right of way because roads shift over time," a point raised during discussion of pole placement. East River's application — approved by motion — would place a 115 kV electric transmission line and OPGW 48-count fiber on CR 11 with all cable to be bored.
Board members approved other utility occupancy requests for Valley Fibercom on 441st Ave and Sioux Valley Energy on CR 6 and CR 10, and a permit for Kingsbury Electric on CR 13. The highway superintendent's paperwork for Project PH 6312(22) (a utilities certificate and a right-of-way certificate) was also approved and the chairman was authorized to sign the documents. The Board additionally approved hiring a seasonal mower for the highway department at $20.12 per hour during the same agenda segment.
