DPI representative updates council on park-yard project; electrical costs reduced and schedule set

A DPI representative (speaker 3) briefed the council on progress at the DPI yard and park project and asked council to review insurance coverage for proposed playground equipment. The presenter said negotiations with Western Cooperative resulted in the utility providing 400-amp service without the larger upfront deposit and that the total installation amount discussed had been reduced. "So in total, it went down from $7,076 to $4,066," the presenter reported, and staff said Western Cooperative offered to spread the installation cost over five years.
The presenter laid out an expected construction schedule: dirt work was underway, sod delivery and installation were scheduled for the weekend of Aug. 21–23, picnic tables should arrive in the coming weeks and tree plantings were anticipated in mid–late October. Council and staff discussed options for playground surfacing, warranty considerations and whether to include security cameras later.
