Clarksville honors firefighters, police for lifesaving work

Clarksville leaders used part of the Feb. 17 meeting to present annual public-safety awards, honoring firefighters and police officers whose actions over the past year saved lives and advanced departmental training.
Fire Chief Brent Wilson presented the firefighter of the year award to Sergeant Matt Feit, praising his “professional growth and willingness to invest in both personal development and the success of this department.” Wilson said the recognition reflects “the commitment to improvement, the mission of this organization, and a readiness to contribute wherever needed.” The council and families were invited forward for photographs after the presentation.
The council also recognized firefighters Jacob Wheeler and Steve Wooten for immediate CPR and EMS response on March 25, 2025; Blake Corbett and James Stedman for actions during a structure fire on Jan. 30, 2025; reserve officer Bradley Dangler; officer Austin Johnson (officer of the year, to be presented at the next meeting); detective Tyler Jackson (detective of the year) and officers honored with lifesaver awards for on-scene triage and tourniquet use. Police Chief Nathan Walls and Fire Chief Brent Wilson said the awards reflect training, readiness and cross-department cooperation.
