Carneys Point signs shared-service agreement for ambulance calls; county to pay $150 per call

Solicitor A. Telsey and Mayor Brown reviewed a Shared Service Agreement for Emergency Services with Salem County that updates service dates from the prior year. The agreement maintains the county's payment of $150 per ambulance call to municipalities that furnish ambulance service, a formula the Committee said prevents residents from being charged twice for emergency transport.
Mr. Pelura explained the county previously collected a dedicated tax for ambulance service but now pays municipalities $150 per call in municipalities that operate their own paid services, such as Carneys Point. The Committee authorized the Mayor to sign related letters to NJDOT for traffic/speed issues in separate actions and approved the shared-service arrangement by unanimous vote.
