The Carneys Point Township Committee voted on Aug. 20 to accept multiple Hazardous Discharge Site Remediation Fund—Public Entity Program grants and to authorize payment and budget insertion for several Clemente properties, including an asphalt plant and three Pennsville addresses.
Mr. Pelura moved and the Committee approved payments: $46,252.56 toward cleanup of the Clemente asphalt plant; $13,552.95 each for properties identified at 280 and 292 S. PV Rd.; and $26,174.75 for a property identified as 480 S. PV Rd. The Committee also authorized insertion of each corresponding amount into the 2025 municipal budget under the caption "Hazardous Discharge Site Remediation Grant" so the receipts may be used. Mr. Pelura explained these grants were applied for years earlier and that the Industrial Commission assisted in obtaining them.
All such motions were seconded and passed by unanimous vote as recorded in the minutes. The minutes note the township must formally insert revenue into the budget if the money is not received before the budget introduction so the funds are available for cleanup work.
