Mayor administers oaths as Carneys Point promotes three police officers

Mayor Brown called the Aug. 20 meeting of the Carneys Point Township Committee to order and opened with the statutory notice and the Pledge of Allegiance. He announced three personnel promotions in the Police Department and administered the oaths of office for each promoted officer.
The Committee approved Resolution 2025-143 promoting Sgt. Andrew Kleban to lieutenant, Resolution 2025-144 promoting Corp. Dennis Hill to sergeant, and the promotion of Officer Christopher McElroy to corporal. "This is a happy occasion for the Township and community," Mayor Brown said as he administered the oaths. Motions to authorize each promotion were made by Mr. Pelura and seconded by committee members; the votes were recorded as unanimous for each action in open session.
The meeting also included routine municipal business: the Committee approved audited vouchers totaling $3,553,782.81 and passed the bill list after noting that a check for Landberg Construction would be held. Mrs. Shaw abstained from approving the July 16, 2025 minutes as recorded. The promotions and financial motions were passed by roll-call or unanimous voice vote as noted in the official minutes.
