Mapleton board approves $33,608 transfer to cover downtown street repairs

The Village of Mapleton Board of Trustees voted April 8 to transfer $33,608.00 from General Funds to cover downtown street repairs after Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) funds proved insufficient.
Rodney Smith told the board the downtown work will cost $48,608.00 and that the village's MFT balance was $15,000.00, leaving a $33,608.00 shortfall. Trustee Ben Hausam moved to approve the transfer; Terri Baker seconded. A roll call recorded Rodney, Ben, Terri and Jennifer voting yes, and the motion carried.
Rodney said the village plans to prioritize side streets for work this year. The transfer covers the immediate downtown project; trustees did not set additional project dates at the meeting. The board will discuss related capital planning during upcoming budget meetings.
