Union City seeks up to $100,000 in CDBG funds for Municipal Lot #1 stormwater repairs after sinkholes

Streets Supervisor Bob Phillips told council that he and Borough Manager Cindy Wells met with Solicitor Tim Wachter about sinkholes in Municipal Lot #1. According to Phillips, Mansfield will fill the sink hole, replace approximately 10 feet of pipe and install a new catch basin; the borough plans to run a smoke-and-dye test after those repairs.
Council also voted to authorize submitting an application to Erie County for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds of up to $100,000 to cover a portion of the stormwater repairs in Municipal Lot #1. The motion to approve submitting the application was made by Councilor Steadman, seconded by Councilor Osborn, and carried unanimously.
