Union City Council accepts EACOG audit, sends support letter for PennDOT grant and passes routine business

The Union City Borough Council reviewed and accepted routine business items on Aug. 27, including unanimous votes to accept the Erie Area Council of Governments (EACOG) audit and to send a letter of support for the PennDOT Charging & Fueling Infrastructure Discretionary Grant Program along the U.S. Route 6 corridor. Borough Manager Cindy Wells announced upcoming dates including an EMS meeting at Fort LeBoeuf on Aug. 28, a Devereaux Day kickoff on Sept. 13 (11 a.m.–1 p.m.), Community Emergency Response Team training Sept. 27–29 and a UPMC Hamot safety awards dinner on Sept. 27.
Manager Wells also reported that the towing ordinance will not be advertised for bids. The council processed standard motions to approve the agenda, minutes, secretary’s report and bills; the meeting adjourned at 6:19 P.M. The council set a Sept. 16 meeting (6:30 P.M.) that will include a public hearing on a zoning amendment and a vote on a parking ordinance (both to be advertised as required). The council’s opening vision statement was read at the start of the meeting: "The Union City area is a thriving rural community of families, businesses and organizations dedicated to encouraging growth while maintaining small town values."
