OCHA: child wasting has worsened across most of Afghanistan, partners say

Olga Charevko said nutrition indicators are worsening across Afghanistan and that partners report an increase in acute malnutrition. "Our nutrition partners tell us that wasting among children has worsened this year in over 0.75 of the country," she said, adding that many children arrive at health facilities already severely malnourished and others never reach care because health facilities are too far away.
Charevko emphasized prevention and pointed to growing funding and supply gaps that put lives at risk. She called for sustained donor support to ensure nutrition services, community outreach and supply chains remain operational, particularly in remote provinces where terrain and damaged roads limit access to care.
