Superintendent: Sevier County high schools to return to 9th—6th grade model; JROTC funded at two schools

Superintendent Stephanie Huskey informed the Education and Budget Committees on May 11, 2026 that, at the request of county principals and the Board of Education's student advisory board, all Sevier County high schools will move back to a 9th—6th grade model. Huskey presented the change as part of the Sevier County School System proposed 2026—62027 budget packet and cited the request by school leadership and the student advisory group.
Huskey also noted that Sevier County High School and Seymour High School will have Air Force JROTC programs that are federally funded. The budget presentation covered these program updates alongside staffing and pay proposals; the district reported enrollment of more than 13,600 students and staff totals above 3,080 during the presentation.
